Share the moment birthday surprise for one lucky winner

We are celebrating 30 years at the centre of the community and what better way than to share the moment with one of our loyal customers.

Today we met 68-year-old Kareen Wadsworth from Royston who is celebrating her birthday on 31st August. Kareen was shopping with her friend Joanne Batman at one of her favourite shops in Alhambra, The Perfume shop. Kareen had just treated herself to her favourite Perfume, Angel and Joanne had bought her the body lotion to match.

Adding to her birthday gifts we presented Kareen with a £50 shopping voucher to spend at Primark and treated her to afternoon tea in Massarella Café.

Kareen said, “What a lovely surprise, I was 38 when the Alhambra first opened and have been a regular visitor ever since. I enjoy shopping at The Perfume Shop, TK Maxx, Wilko and Iceland. I never expected to be having afternoon tea for my birthday but I’m so glad I could share it with my friend Joanne.”

Steph Higham, Deputy Manager for Alhambra Shopping Centre commented, “We came across Kareen and her friend Joanne when they entered our spend £30 competition at the customer service desk. When Kareen said she would be enjoying her chocolate prize for her birthday we couldn’t resist making her birthday that bit more special.”

Steph continued, “As part of our celebrations we had planned to treat one lucky shopper celebrating their birthday this month, with a gift voucher and afternoon tea. Kareen was such a deserving winner and I’m so glad she was able to enjoy her birthday with us.”

Kareen has lived in Barnsley all her life and has given 46 years’ service to Premier Foods factory in Carlton, Barnsley working for Mr Kipling bakery. We wish Kareen many happy returns and look forward to seeing Kareen and Joanne continuing their visits for many years to come.
