The Alhambra Shopping Centre welcomes new car park machines

27 July 2016

Brand new state of the art car park machines are being installed in Alhambra Shopping Centre car park this summer thanks to Landlords’, BMO Real Estate Partners , investment.

The convenient multi-story car park has 496 spaces including disabled and parent & child spaces, currently offering a pay on foot system for cash payments only.

This month, The Alhambra Shopping Centre will be upgrading the full system with new pay stations, entrance and exit barriers. The system will incorporate a new barcode recognition system on the tickets and will allow customers to pay by cash or being ‘cash free’ and pay by card.

They system will work in the same way as the current system, when customers pull into the car park, they will be given a paper ticket. Before they leave the shopping centre, they will need to insert the ticket into one of five new machines and pay for their parking with either cash or card including contactless option. They will then insert their ticket into a machine as they leave the car park to raise the exit barrier.

John Tarrant, Centre Manager at Alhambra Shopping Centre, said: “The current equipment has been in situ for 12 years now and are becoming problematic. We’re really looking forward to our new car parking machines which will cut costs on breakdowns and have the added convenience for our shoppers  being able to pay for their parking using their card, so they won’t have to worry about having the right amount of change on them. The system will also have the facility to accept the new plastic £5 & £10 notes when they are released. In effect, future proofing them for the foreseeable future.”

“We’re planning for minimum disruption to our customers during the upgrade but we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Work is due to start week commencing Monday 1th August and will take 2 weeks to complete. Some pay-on-foot machines will be unavailable while the works take place and the multi-storey car park will be limited to one entrance and one exit lane during the works.

The car park works follow the recent refurbishment of the toilet facilities, which were complete in July 2016.
