An all-year programme of events has been taking place throughout the year in the UK and Commonwealth but will culminate with the Platinum Jubilee Weekend, which takes place across an extended four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June marking the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

Alhambra Shopping Centre has plenty to keep you entertained, we are open Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June 8am – 5.30pm with free parking.

Alhambra kids club

Come along to our free kid’s club, on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd June, 11am – 3pm. We will have junior royal guard training, face painting, games, and crown decorating. We will also be giving out union jack flags to anyone who comes along and joins in the fun. Find out more on our kid’s club section.

In the lead up to the extended weekend we will see the return of Twisted: Barnsley’s Fantastical Beasts trail Part II – featuring six new willow sculptures  inspired by local legends – part of Barnsley Festival of Natural Art. Starting from Saturday 28th May, Alhambra Shopping Centre will host one of the new sculptures, can you guess what creature we will be displaying?

Pick up a trial map from our customer service desk on the upper level outside The Entertainer toy shop to hunt them all. It is approximately 1.5mile walk to visit all 6 town centre beasts so put on your walking shoes and get hunting!

Don’t forget to take part in the selfie challenge for the chance to win a Barnsley Gift Card. Track down the beasts, complete the challenges and send your photos to the Love Barnsley Town Centre Facebook page for a chance to win.
